Anyone seen the new Elite ti2? It has an evolved version of TotalScan called Active Imaging. I was discussing this with some friends and took a look at the sounder imaging. Impressive. The TotalScan transducer is big, but at least the Active Imaging transducer is no bigger.

Still haven't pulled the trigger on a second, stand-alone system, and maybe that was a good thing. Before next fishing season comes around, I'll have one.

Interesting and I have not had a chance to really review that unit as of yet. I agree though, those transducers are pretty large and looks like another trim tab on our Skiff

When you are ready to upgrade/add on... Make sure you check with Dee at RMP for their best price and tell them Dave from Performance Outdoors sent you

I'll do that, thank you!

The new Active Imaging has been described as "this is Totalscan moving forward, it is a running change", and "[it] is replacing Totalscan".

I am running the gen1 HDS 10 (remember, it's a brand new 10 year old system, and works well), so I'll be adding the Airmar P66-bl transducer to make the most of the HDS sounder, and adding the Elite 9 (probably 9Ti2) as a stand-alone system (redundancy).

Combined, no fish is safe.

I often laugh that where I live, I make bait safe, one Halibut at a time.

Keep us up updated on your findings and if you need any help when shopping, feel free to reach out and I will be happy to call them for you ;)

No sales tax and free shipping does come in handy, and I bet that Lowrance will have a promo either around Christmas or Spring time to help boost sales for that quarter to help sweeten the pot :D

Hopefully soon, I will get a chance to use my new one more as the water clears up and other factors improve  I am way behind in updates and the learning curve on Side Scan use on my new 9Ti since installing it :(

I have virtually no interest in the side scanning capabilities. I'm never in shallow water. Well, rarely in shallow water. I do fish for California Halibut in 4 to 30 feet of water, but they hold to the bottom unless they're on your gear. Hard to see them with any equipment.

Most of my fishing gear comes from a commercial fishing supply store here. I was just in there this morning and was discussing the Elite ti with one of the guys. He has it with TotalScan. Clearly he has the transducer mounted incorrectly as he describes it has unable to hold the bottom while running. He has to stop to get a picture. But once he has the image, he says it's really rather good; much better than his previous traditional transducer.

I'm still shopping around and, since I'm really not using the boat for a few more months as I continue to heal up, I'm in no hurry. Except that the compulsive side of me wants it now. Ha.....

Have you seen the 3D version of Structure Scan? This video is for SIMRAD, but all the same company right down to the software versions they use with Lowrance.

The only thing I have not been able to really find, is just how deep (for I know you are in some very deep water over there) will it map? But if you are running a canyon or ditch looking for some schools running through the area, or laid up fish along a ledge... Something you may want to review and consider when adding on your second unit ;)

Enjoy!
Dave

That is a tempting price.
