My New Gopro Camera

I just noticed we don't have a off topic category, so hope it will work here

They had a deal a while back free 32mb card and free shipping so I picked one up. My son has one and uses it both for work and play with the drone that we got him for Christmas. The first Video is him with it in action.

The second one is mine installed on my boat for fishing. But as luck would have it a bad day of fishing, so none on camera but you get the idea.

I am thinking some of you might need one of these...

I fish alone most of the time in my 170CC. Got a GoPro last summer. Won't leave the dock without it anymore. I think I need one of those drones next.

GoPro DIY Dredge

I have 3 GoPro's Hero2 and routinely use them for filming action (and inaction mostly) on my 215. I have had my eye on a Phantom but not willing yet to pull the trigger and purchase one. Best I can tell the Phantom 2 and GoPro holder only accommodates Hero3 not Hero2 cameras.

One thing you might want to think about making, DIY for under $15-20 is a trolling dredge. Simple out of 3" PVC and "3-4" adapter. Friend of mine cammo'd mine as menhaden/pogy.

I used 3 4oz inline lead sinkers caulked into the bottom for stability and spray foam (cut out as necessary) as ballast to obtain neutral buoyancy. When trolling I choose between 3 setups with either 24, 32, or 48 oz of inline lead sinkers to control trolling depth.

Here's a sample video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnl1LFRm8rI
Put the dredge cam on the bottom about 20-30ft and moved as we were drift jigging.

Thats really cool. Nice work, the water where I am at is either too muddy or else black when the fresh and saltwater mix that I don't think something like that would do me any good...

Very cool Vids. If a person was good enough with the remote, a drone would make for a very high vantage point during trolling. Would be cool to actually film the fish striking the baits. Probably wouldn't fare too well if it went into the drink though.

I have used my plane to spot areas of fish schools for my buddies and direct them to the fish. You get a real good view from up there.

Guess I'll have to look into GoPros and drones now. Hey, I didn't invent the term....."Men and their toys" But I'm hopelessly caught up in it........ (and I'm not complaining )

Trouble with a drone is they are not waterproof so it is not IF but WHEN they get dunked. Some of my friends are very good in the boat with drones, great whale shots here (starting at ~1.5 min)

Yes correct. I had already read him the riot act when I first gave it to him about not going over the canal in his back yard haha
