He guys,

Im rob from the netherlands.
This year i traded my dell quay dory for a logic v17 dc 90hp suzuki.

I do enjoy the boat alot but seem to have some problems with reaching topspeed.
Tried many things and at this point i will adjust the trailer soon.

Atm 5800 rpm 31 knots, would love to be closer to 40.

Hoping to learn alot from this forum.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard Rob. And congratulations on the Logic 170.

Blessings

Hi Rob,
Something is wrong. I have a 170CC with a 50 Honda 4 stroke and it will top out nearly as fast. I have also planed it off (albiet slowly) with 5 people on board - a couple of them were kids). I pretty much never run it wide open but it easily runs in the mid 20s (mph) at about 2/3 throttle. I think you need to do some experimentation with some different props, perhaps a lower pitch, even though if you are hitting 5800 that's probably close to as fast as the motor is supposed to turn. Does it jump up on plane quickly, without struggling? Might want to try trim tabs or even a motor mounted hydrofoil, like a Doel-fin. 90 hp is more than enough motor for that boat. If I recall correctly it is only rated for 75 hp. It is possible to put too much motor (weight) on a small, light boat, which the 17 is.
