Are your Batteries Ready?

I live where it is warm basically 340 days out of the year :) Be that as it may, even I do not get to spend as much time on the boat as I would like... Worse yet, my boat will set for weeks on end (bummer) and not get used just like many of you.

So, when I take off the cover I put a lot of importance on everything being clean and in full working order so I am in the process of switching out my 190 to having nothing but Odyssey Batteries for both my 2 main start batteries (which is already done) and 2 more for the trolling motor.

Now not cheap process by any means, but is it really all that expensive in the long run? How much importance do you put on your free time? How much importance do you put on having "all" of your equipment (trolling motor included) working this after banging your present batteries to death when running across the chop. We have to be logical here and realize that a boat (take it from a Coastie) unlike your truck, can take a major beating and even having items secured though will help, still will not make up for lack of back bone (quality) when flying though the surf.

So here is a educational read on the Odyssey Batteries (also see attached) and how they are built as compared to the other products on the market today...

And much like the old FRAM commercial use to say "You can pay a little now or a lot latter" also applies.

The last thing I want to do "again" is to finally have a day off work to go fishing, and either the boat will not start OR like the last time, the trolling motor was dead even though the charger had been on the batteries to keep them all (in theory) ready for use... You decide, but for me all I want to to do is hitch up the boat and go! This and NOT mess around with swapping batteries and stuff at the last min (burning fishing time) for no logical reason... The extra dollars spent for quality today, will go a long way to how happy you are with your boat next month ;)

And though took a little time and digging since they are not a Factory Battery Holder as I 1st thought, the awesome little trays for the PC1200 units and others that are held down with nice wide Velcro (nothing to rust) straps!

And you can find them here:

For somewhat less here:

More such items for review and your best use needs, can also be found here:
https://industrialbatterypros.com/batteries/sealed-lead-acid-agm/odyssey/

They work very well, and I have had 6 of them in the past over the years, never a bit of problems or ever had to replace one once installed ;)

Best,
Dave

And unlike a lot of Batteries due to their construction, they can be shipped right to your house thus you might be able to save a few dollars by looking for them (at least for comparison) on Amazon ;)

Enjoy, and may your Toys always start when you are ready to go!

Where are those Batts mounted on your 190?

Good Morning,
Two were mounted in the battery box for the trolling motor. Two more were moved / installed into the center console and ran off of a A-B switch mounted on the rear casting deck. Quite sure you will see how that was setup in the photo section under my name / album.
