Good little video from Brother CA on how to improve your hook up ratio when using Top Water lures (my favorite way to fish) and "walking the dog" across the Flats 
And I throw all of mine in Mono line so not only does it float, but it also has some stretch fact to it, so I loose less fish
One last thing (closely guarded upgrade, see bottom lure on picture below) is I add an extra 40-pound Spro swivel and split ring to the rear hook. This so that hook can spin a full 360 degrees, and never pull the hook out of the fish’s mouth. He can crash the lure and roll around with it like a dog in mud, and I don't lose them as much since I discovered that little tweak years ago
