Yamaha 150hp 4 stroke question

Just bought a 215cc that is currently in Tampa. Plan on bringing up to Lake Erie but am concerned about the engine as it has not been winterized. Want to get out fishing in March but wonder if the cold night temps will destroy my engine. Thoughts?

I would make darn sure you drain the water out of the engine every time you use it. Use the lightest weight oil in the engine that Yamaha recommends and make sure you warm it up very well before running it hard. (cases of stripped oil pump splines due to trying to pump heavy cold oil in cold water) Other than that enjoy that 215 with the F150 cause it will fish Lake Erie with comfort. By the way where did you purchase it? I live about 20 minutes from Tampa.

Did you purchase from dealer or private? We normally go out of Hudson with my 215. Live in Zephyrhills.

Private seller. I live in Akron, OH so the boat is getting shipped up here to be used on Erie
