First time Trolling around for Bonito around San Pedro point at Santa Cruz Island ( Channel Islands, CA ). Hoocked up within a couple minutes every single time close to the shore line 40/60 feet. Used 4-5 inch rapalas in mackeral and silver/blue colors.

Are Pacific Bonito any good eaten ? I did bleed them right away and put them on ice, just incase.

If they are bled QUICKLY and iced down RIGHT away......they make outstanding sashimi.......absolutely some of the best....a little soy, a little wasabi and I can eat until I burst.

Have had it on several 2.5 day trips after being hooked-up.

If you enjoy sashimi, give it a go.
