Anchor Point

I searched for quite some time for this boat. While not the prettiest, fastest or most economic, it certainly is functional. Having a cabin and heater is a luxury I never had until this boat. Being a walk around, you can still fish off of the bow or chase the big one around the boat. Anchor Point is powered by twin Volvo Penta 3.0 liter engines spinning 290 sp-a outdrives (for now). The redundancy of two engines is a piece of mind and added safety that I probably won’t stray from.
My wife helped name the boat “Anchor Point”. It’s a fire term for where you start fighting the blaze (we’re both firefighters). It just seems fitting. Enough talk...

Last years winter maintenance... When I purchased the boat, one engine was at the machine shop, fresh and ready. Last year while motoring home from Cape Mendocino, I noticed a vibration. Turned out to be a bad bearing in the bellhousing. It snowballed out of control and I ended up rebuilding the other engine and replacing all fo the u joints, seals and bellows on outdrive. A fresh coat of paint and who knows how many man hours or dollars.

A few mods this season. Added some rocket launcher rod holders, 50” led light bar on the front, vision x spreader lights and mounted an IPad with Ram mount and intellaskin case, synced to my simrad.

Excellent!
Just need a new Captains chair, and maybe some Duoprop Outdrives to help increase performance

And I would say you would be all set! Love the big LED light bar on the cabin also ;)

Thanks for sharing!

Break Out Another Thousand

Just installed a Todd captains chair. Temporary while I find someone to restore the originals. Not sure duoprop is the answer on such low H.P. engines. I’m going to experiment with four blade props and fuel injection, but twin outboards is the long term goal.

My next drive system....

I found these rod holders marked down to $10 from $38 in the bargain bin at Redwood Marine... so what I didn’t buy, my buddy Tom did. 13B34E94-3B60-448B-AA0F-25FC424D9DCF.jpeg1E55C0C2-E2F5-404F-A72C-36E91B568463.jpeg
