Good afternoon,
Has anyone had any luck bringing a windshield back to life that has what looks like small spider cracks?
Didn't know if a compound or wet sanding would revive it.

Thanks!

Pull a search for "windshield" here using the search tool at the top right (the most under used feature on this KB) and see what comes up?

That material though, with those deep of cracks, I high doubt you can buff those out and get them to come clear. All I could find on the subject below, and I would just replace it if you cannot see through it any longer.

Thanks,
I'm going to give it a try. Windshield is still clear to see out of, but good enough is not good enough for my liking.
Thanks for the feedback.

Looks like what Brother Mike talks about above could do the job!

And a smaller 3 inch buffer "might" come in handy like the one I use for Headlights and detailing smaller sections on the other body sections too small for a regular 5 to 6 inch pad buffer could get into... This is the one I have, and hard to beat for smaller jobs with the correct pads (second link) and the price point:

Let us know, how that all works out for you?

It sounds like crazing. If that’s what it is you’ll never stop it and it will continue to slowly spread over time. You might be able to get some of the smaller cracks out with something like 210 Polish. NEVER use Windex. The ammonia in it will cause crazing. I had a windshield cover made for my 215 CC shortly after we bought the boat that helps prevent it. If it gets bad enough your only choice will be to replace the windshield.

It's called crazing, and it's more than surface deep, I doubt you can salvage it - I just replaced my 2006 195cc windshield with a perfect match from Merritt Marine for about $375
