I brought my 17' sportsman in for winterizing and regular maintenance. I noticed a bolt attaching the tiller arm to the engine had come loose and asked the mechanic to check it out. He claims that the bolt fittings are corroded and the arm has to be replaced. Is this something that is common on tiller engines? Do you have any thoughts or suggestions to fix it rather than replacing the whole arm?
