New member - 170DC question

Hi folks my wife and I were at a boat show last weakend an saw what we think will be our next boat the 170DC. We already have a CDory 25 and a riverhawk 15 one to large for every day and one to small to take the grandkids. We would appriciate any info on the boat good or bad hopefully no bad we hear these are well built sturdy boats.

Welcome aboard. I have the 170CC which is a Center Console version of the 17 foot line. The CC and DC are virtually the same boat except for a few minor variations. I can tell you this: It's one heck of a great boat. I bought mine in 2004 and have loved every minute of it. It's tough as nails and is great on the rivers and lakes that I run it in. It's small enough to launch and recover easily by one person and yet big enough to fish or ski/tube out of comfortably. I think you will be very happy with your choice. Good luck.

I have a 2006 170DC equipped with a Yamaha 60hp 4 stroke and love it. I've had 4 adults in the boat cruising the lake and it ran well with ample room for everyone. I only fish two in the boat and there is plenty of room for both of us to fish without interfering with each others casting.

If you are using it mostly to ride around in with only a little fishing I would recommend considering the bow rail, especially if the kids are small. I would also recommend a bimini top, rear seat back rests, and a swim ladder.

If you’re planning on pulling the kids on skis or a tube, consider the 75hp motor.

welcome arboman, I have a 170cc and can't be more pleased. As for sturdy, I have had my boat airborne several times with no problems. This season I'll post some pictures. I have a 75hp etech which is lot's of care free power. Hope you buy one I'm sure you will love it, good luck, Bob

Welcome Arboman!! I have a 2004 170CC and enjoy it alot. I have no real complaints. The boat is easy to launch and control easy to fish. I have cruised with 4 aboard and fished with three. We had ample room for cruising but somwhat cramped for fishing with adults. 2 adults and 2 kids would work well.

I would recommend an outboard in the 60-75 HP range.

I have a 07 170 DC and it is the most user friendly boat I have ever owned. I bass fish mostly but I have had 5 in it and it planes out and runs fine. If you are going to be carying more than 3 people I suggest putting a 75 hp. I have a yamaha four stroke and would not want anything less. Hope you buy one you will love the low maintenance. I just run it through the drive through car wash and it comes out clean as a whistle.

I own a 2006 170 DC, and all the compliments mentioned above are all true. I'd like to add it is easy to trailer and fits nicely in the garage, specially if you get the folding tongue. I have a Yamaha 60 HP four stroke, very happy with it since I installed an hydrofoil. But go with the 75 if you have the extra cash for it. Bimini, transom seats and swim ladder are a must!
