the trim gauge is not reading the same angle as the motor.. mostly doesnt move at all till engine is almost out of water and sometimes gauge jumps all around . is there something i can check from here or is this a service tech issue. thought i would ask here so others will know your response if it should arise for someone else.due 100 hour service soon if it needs to be brought in
thanks

Robert, The sending unit is accessible when you trim the motor all the way up. It has a plastic lever that rides on the motor and activates a rheostat that runs the gauge. assuming that the electrical connections are good, including the grounds, with the motor up, move the lever and see if the gauge is working. If it jumps around, you probably have water in the sending unit and it will have to be replaced. If it works properley, the arm could be out of adjustment. Remember the ignition key has to be on. Let us know what you find.
