Covered a lot of ocean chasing dolphin.....they were being picky and elusive, but we rousted about a dozen. No monsters and even the schoolies weren't schooling.....so we had to really work to get 'em, one at a time. Alot of running and working weedlines and patches. Then some vertical jigging over shipwrecks in 150 feet which was really fun and a workout. Was an all lure day, (no using natural baits this time) Put in a loooong day.

The dredges pulled great and looked fantastic behind the boat....but....(there's always a but) they interfere with the trolled lines when deployed from the first eye of the outrigger. When a fish strikes the outer line..... the dredge line is either in the way of hooked fishing line or if you run the outrigger trolled line over the towed dredge line......then it rubs the dredge line while being trolled. Just not feasible on such a small setup. And the reels take two hands to operate. ( one for drag knob and one for reel handle) Kind of a pain when clearing lines after a fish strike. But, ya gotta try it to learn what works and what doesn't.

I'm gonna scrap the teaser reels and going to just using my electric downriggers for towing the dredges. (easier to clear anyway by just hitting the auto retrieve button). With teasers, I'll just use a fixed 20-30 foot hand line tied to the stern cleats or the roll bar over the motor. There is only so many lines you can keep from tangling and then clear quickly after a fish strike....... when trolled behind a 7-8' beam boat.

I think I'll double up on the outrigger releases. That should widen the spread. ;)
