Triumph 150 cc

Hi all. My name is Danny. I have a 2004 Triumph 150CC. Nice little boat. But very under powered with a 50 hp Yamaha 2stroke. Is it possible to move up to a 70 4 stroke. The weight is only a few pounds over. Could this be done safely?

Check your boats safety data capacity plate for max hp. I bet it would be a kick with a new 70 merc or yamaha!

Ya it says 250 lbs and 60 hp. 70 isn’t much over and the weight is only a few pounds over. Put 60 decall on it call it done.

Thanks I was looking at thats as well that would be in the manufacturer rating as well. Both weight and HP. Haven’t decided yet. But if I do go with the 70. I will change decals to 60.

The weight is not the issue it’s only 3 lbs over. Not enough to be concerned about. The extra 10 hp would definitely help with the planing issue though. But we’ll see. If I can find a reasonable price 60 will most likely go that way.

I have a 150cc with a 60hp Yamaha 4 stroke and that is plenty of power. I have an SE Sport hydrofoil that helps get on plane quickly. Will do 35+ with two people.

Thanks I think im gonna get a 60 its too nice of a boat to let it go.
