I was curious if anyone had any tips or experience trolling with Rod-Riggers? It seems to be a growing trend to utilize the rod-riggers with smaller boats so I just would love to hear any feedback and/or tips to use them.

I use a similar product...it's a rod holder made by Scotty. It has its own base instead of using a flush mount rod holder but is practially the same principle. Here's a photo:

I love them. They are fully adjustable. I've added two to each side of my 170CC. I position the front ones off to the side and the rear ones straight back so I can troll four rods without any worries about tangled lines. :D

I noticed that your rod goes all the way through...does that make it hard for the pole to stay stationary?? I mean does it move around on you during the troll???

You can't really see it in this picture but there is a cut out on the bottom front of the holder that the reel seat from a spinning rod or the finger grip on a freshwater casting rod fits in to. There is also a cut out on the top of the holder that your casting reel fits over that keeps the rod from rotating while in the holder. Here's a better picture of the top cut out:

It's very solid when in use and very easy to remove the rod when you have a fish on...just lift up and the entire top part of the holder pivots up out of it's cradle. Overall, I think this is a great system and it works really well for my type of fishing.

Here's a link from Cabelas that has a video that shows them in use:

I hope I answered your question.
