I had a Airmar P66 on a Raymarine setup on my 215cc. Worked great. If any of you have followed any of what I talk about, you'll know I'm somewhat OC.... It worked great, but I was always thinking the Raymarine could do more. My next boat had a 1kw transducer on a Garmin system. Funny, worked about as good as the P66. Hhmm...
My 235cc has a Lowrance HDS10 gen1 and a decent transducer. I don't know which one, the larger one that comes in the box I guess. I shopped around and heard the P66 will get the most from the HDS gen1. So, I bought one and installed it. It's much better than the original Lowrance one.
I was watching my rockfishing lure bouncing along the bottom in 120 feet of water. Also, I'm holding bottom and marking fish at 42 mph.
So, junk or not?! I think not. Is it the best? Um, nope. But for us recreational guys, worked pretty dang good.
