You wouldn't jack your car up with the jack under the floorboards instead of the frame....... or walk thru your attic standing on the ceiling instead of the rafters........not even once. Just sayin.....
You want to have the bunk configuration function in one or both of two ways.....
If on the flat areas of the hull bottom...they need to be wider to spread the load
or
If the bunks are vertical and narrow, they need to be positioned where they are supporting the hull where there is more structural rigidity. - ie: flat lapstrake runners, keel or chine areas
