The one on the engine or the one mounted in the hull?

If it ABSOLUTELY will not come off, it might be time for a new fuel filter water separator assembly.

I’ve come to that conclusion, as well. Thank you!
I’m brand new to this site, do you have a suggestion as to where I might find a OEM assembly, that will direct mount? Also, it is the filter inside the hull. Thanks again!

Any boat supply store like west marine, should have one on the shelf.

get the kind with see thru bowl with a drain on the bottom and mount it high enough so you can open the drain and catch what comes out.
If you do this and run non-ethanol fuel you can keep going even if you get a tank of fuel with lots of water in it.

Not a fun chore, but it will get you home on your own power.

According to the manufacturers standards, if I recall correctly, the glass or plastic bottom water separator is for enclosed compartments or enclosed engine rooms where it would be protected from potential impact. If it's going to be exposed or outdoors, make sure that it is a solid metal filter canister.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the help. I’ve replaced with a new assembly..
The boat has been sitting in storage for two years, with about a half tank of fuel. The gas I drained from the old water seperator, was pee yellow, and in my opinion, didn’t smell quite right, and I’m wondering if I should drain the tank and replace with fresh fuel?

There are a lot of ideas on how to drain a tank. I would certainly do it if I were in your position. The way I did it in the past was I purchased a small, inexpensive fuel pump and connected it to the fuel line just before the fuel filter water separator. Add twelve volts and a big container and pumped it out. It took some time, but it was the easiest way for me.

Martin, what resource did you find, in order to get rid of the old fuel?

Burned it in equipment. A lawn mower would do it, though that may take a while.

In my county they have amnesty days for people to get rid of their hazardous waste - which is what they consider gas to be. They don't have one very often, maybe once a year, but if you have more fuel than you can get rid of or it is older then you want to burn, that's one option.
If it was 2 year old non-ethanol I think I'd burn it after decanting the gas off the water layer, but if it was ethanol fuel, I'd find another way to get rid of it.
