It's still a bit early for salmon but some are being caught in the Sacramento River. Tuesday I Headed out to the Sacramento River launching out of discovery Park. Anchored at the American River confluence and dropped some plugs and spinners in the current with no luck. Trolled spinners downstream all the way to Freeport bridge with no luck. I did not see a single fish caught all day.
I figured with the boat hooked up to my truck I would go out again the next day and hopefully have better luck. Unfortunately it was the same exact story however I did manage to catch a fishing pole and reel that somebody had lost overboard. The rod still had the wrapper on the handle and it looked like it had been in the water for less than one week. Disassembled the reel and cleaned it up and it smooth as butter now. I am the new owner of an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5600 C4.
