Tom new owner of 150cc with only 2 rod holders. After watching video and learning the construction of my boat I like some others took one rod holder out to see why it does not drain. Saw the plastic cap taped to the end and realized Triumph decided it was not necessary. I am now trying to install 2 more flush mount rod holders near but forward of the transom. Using a deep hole saw I successfully am about 8" deep and I hit a black plastic hose 1" diameter that is running horizontal. I am hoping this has something to do with the foam injection??? I can not see where it goes to. No hoses like it exiting into the transom cavity. Thought I would poll this knowledge base before I drill through it which will sever it completely. I saw other posts without any mention of this obstacle. The 150cc is pretty small so rod holders are a must have!

What side are you on. You mite be hitting the fuel vent if you are on the port side. Smell it, if you went into it for gas odor
Thanks for reply. Yes Port side on the gunwales close to but not on the transom. No odor and I can see the fuel tank vent that is connected to and terminates at the fuel fill receptacle right under the fuel cap. Visible by removing the 4" access port inside face of transom and then you can see the smaller vent opening by removing the fill cap. Also the fuel fill is about 10" inboard and the vent and fill hoses are routed toward the tank in the middle of the boat.

Okay, here is the short story. My last name is Codding. My dad acquired the nickname from his friends because he was always fishing for trout on the local McKenzie River, or for salmon in the ocean. I pretty much took after him and do lots of fishing when I can. Just naturally came to be called the same as he once he passed. (Halibut is one of my favorites. along with salmon and tuna.)
You got it Codfish. It's a foam injection line. It starts at the welded plug in the transome. Looks like they used it to get foam forward in the gunwhales then just let it drop to fill the rest. After I decided to go for it I sawed through them on both sides. They are full of foam and nothing else. My wires are all under the deck. On the starboard side (pictured) I added a full can of foam to the transom because it was lacking. Successful upgrade of two rodholders! Next will be two clamp on holders to the rails forward.

Nice job Plankeye. I have a 210 and mounted 2 clamp on rod holders to the support rails beside my transom well. You can see them in some of my pictures over the years. Simple and very useful for the trolling style of fishing we use here in the Pacific Northwest.
