Trolling Motor Sufficient Size?

With regard to a Logic 210, I have a Minn Kota 55 (55 lbs thrust) 12V trolling motor from my smaller motor. According to the Minn Kota website you need 2 lbs of thrust for each 100 lbs of boat weight. It looks like a 210 with 200HP outboard is 2700 lbs... not including gas. That is right at the limit. Then add three guys at 200lbs each, gear, coolers, etc. I would guess all in the boat is more like 3700 with gas, gear and people. Is there any chance my trolling motor will move us along on a smooth surface at 1.3-1.7 mph? I know wind and waves make it ever worse, but wonder if I can "love the one I'm with" for a season before I buy a bigger motor. Thanks!

Maybe you should think about what motor you would get if the Minn Kota 55 isn't enough power.
If the potential replacement motor uses the same mounting bracket and rigging as the 55, I would give the 55 a try and see how it does. If the 55 isn't enough you can just swap out for the larger motor and not have to re-rig from scratch.
